10 Foods to not let your child eat

 

As a parent it can be overwhelming what to give your children to eat.

In researching this topic it became apparent that 5 shocking traits became almost red flags. They are:

  • Food dyes, artificial colours and flavours
  • High fructose sugar and syrup
  • Enriched flour
  • Sodium in excess of 200mg
  • Over 5 ingredients in one product

The horrible truth is that when i list the 10 foods that you categorically cannot let your child near, you will be shocked in that these foods are probably a part of your child’s daily diet already. The good news is that this can now stop and you can eradicate the following foods to the bin and never buy them again.

Remember…..Your children are your future!!

  • Kids Cereals
  • Toaster pastries
  • Colourful sweets
  • Lunchables
  • Sugary drinks
  • White Bread
  • Chicken nuggets
  • Hot Dogs
  • French Fries
  • Processed Children’s meals

All of the above examples can all be replaced with healthy nutritious options such as:

  • Oats and porridge
  • Homemade blueberry muffins
  • Homemade chocolate almond slices
  • Homemade nutritious lunch plate
  • Strawberry slushy
  • Brown bread
  • Homemade chicken nuggets
  • Homemade hotdogs
  • Baked sweet potato fries
  • Homemade, fresh ingredient children’s meals

 

It is not a hard choice to change what your children are eating; it just takes preparation and planning. The alternatives are easy and simple yet will give your child the correct nutrition and therefore build a better base for the future.
